There is simply too much to highlight of our wonderful experience. The community alone offered so much enjoyment between the private beach, awesome pool and lazy river, beautiful Whooping Crane Conservancy, and miles of biking paths. Local beaches are great, lots of shopping and eateries-just so much to satisfy everyone. Colleen and Don were very welcoming and great communicators. The house was comforting and had everything we needed. Just an all around great experience with special memories to last a lifetime. Thanks Colleen and Don for a great time!!
Hi Joe - Thank you for your excellent review. Offering families our house for their Hilton Head memory making opportunities creates Happiness for both you and us. In my providing so many local details, I try to ensure that our guests don’t miss out on enjoying wonderful HH experiences such as the fishing trip you took – and found on your own! You were really pleasant to chat with and helpful. We do hope you will be able to return to enjoy more of the island’s highlights. What you enjoyed are some of the many reasons that caused us also to buy our house in this lovely location with so much close by to see and do. I hope your HH memories have not faded too much now that back home life has resumed. Sincerely, Colleen and Don

This house sits on a peaceful road with a lagoon, very quiet, very nice. Less that 2 blocks away you have everything you could need or want! Very easy drive to the beach. If the weather had been warmer we would have loved to try the new lazy river....which was just down the street. The owners were helpful and checked on us to make sure we had what we needed. We are 3 sisters who are also teachers so we can be picky. This house made the top of our list!

The house is comfortable, spacious, private and clean. The owner is flexible, friendly and communicates/follows up quickly. We are very pleased and will return and recommend to our friends.

Fantastic, highly recommend it!
This spacious, comfortable, lovely home did not disappoint and had all the comforts of home. The owners provided maps as well as restaurant and activity recommendations. If you want to cook, the kitchen provides all the pots, pans and baking dishes you need to cook a five-course meal. We sat outside on their swing having morning coffee and looked out at the lagoon, beautiful setting. Close to both neighborhood and plantation pools and miles of bike paths. Drive or bike up to Dolphin Head and watch the sunrise/sunset and walk the bluff walk which is three miles along the water.

Thank you Colleen and Don for the use of your beautiful home.
This was our first visit to Hilton Head. My children and I had a wonderful and very comfortable stay at your home. We enjoyed the use of the bicycles that were left as well as the beach chairs. The plantation itself was quiet and relaxing. We would definitely love to rent your home again for another visit. Thank you also for allowing us to bring our fur babies. Warm regards, Debbie and children :)

Great area on Hilton head island
We enjoyed our stay at Don and Colleen's house. The area is very quiet and away form the busy area of the southern part of the island. The home is well appointed and met all of our needs. We had very good communication and detailed information about the house and the area.
The neighborhood pool is an easy walk or bike ride. The plantation also has a new pool with a lazy river that is very relaxing. We also enjoyed seeing deer and a small fawn in the backyard as well as the alligator in the lagoon that would occasionally show up. We will definitely return for our future vacations to the island!

Beautiful home. Wonderful, quiet neighborhood. Nice place for a small family.
My husband, two kids, ages 15 and 11, my 15year old sister, and myself spent a week in this beautiful home at the beginning of July 2017. It was very easy to find. Entrance into the gated community was a breeze. The home is very spacious and inviting. Nearly any kitchen gadget, pan, utensil, glass you could possibly need was available. The beds were so comfortable. And the water pressure in the showers was amazing. All the beach equipment you may need is there. As in chairs, cooler, bikes, beach toys, boogie board. The clothesline in the laundry room was used a lot! And Colleen was available via email (and very responsive) the entire week to answer the mist trivial questions, suck as, "where should we eat tonight." There is a grill available to use. Two water hoses to rinse Sandy beach equipment. The chaise lounge is superb! My family and I enjoyed all of the personal touches in the home and the many detailed and labeled descriptions. The Rookery Pool is a nice, quiet neighborhood pool that we utilized a few times. And within walking distance. The squirrels were fun to watch munching the palmetto in the back yard. Colleen was very wonderful to work with regarding "fee free" payment and our security deposit was refunded the day of our departure.

Wonderful accommodations for my handicapped son
I have never been a beach person, but I wanted my family to have some time away with nephews before they graduate high school this year. We had visited Hilton Head once before, and I found the family-oriented setting more to my liking than the commercial aspects of most beaches. I also have a 15-year old son who has cerebral palsy, and he has extreme needs for his care such as a wheelchair and bathing chair. This home seemed to fit our needs of accessibility and openness. From my first inquiry about the property, the homeowners were very honest and courteous in their responses to my questions. The home was everything they told us and more. Its proximity to the beaches, community pools, and other amenities made it perfect for our needs. Most of all, my son seemed to feel like he was in his home and ordinary surroundings. The trip and experience with the homeowners was first class. I recommend 1 Bank Swallow for anyone, and especially for families with special needs members.

Fabulous vacation house in a resort community that exceeded all of our expectations
The house is located in a very quiet area of Hilton Head right on a lagoon and surrounded by trees. There are bike paths throughout the area and it was great to be able to use the complimentary bikes to ride up to the pool that has water features and a lazy river. We loved the size of the house and each child had their own bedroom. The house was clean and very well maintained and equipped with more appliances, pots, pans, tools, etc than I have ever seen in a rental property. Their is a new outdoor drill, 6 bicycles, a beach cart, floating noodles, a frisbee, ... The owners were great to deal with and provided plenty of information about the property and community. There are labeled maps of the plantation, recommended bike routes, and tips on enjoying the island. Even all of the light switches and dimmers are labeled. We had a great experience at this property and will return again.

A lovely time in a lovely home
Our family spent Thanksgiving week at 1Bank Swallow and had a delightful time. Children and grandchildren visited grandmother/great grandmother, aunt and her family on Hilton Head that we do not get to visit as a group very often. Checked out the Conservancy nearby and walked the pleasant roads in the neighborhood. Ate at the Chart House, yum and fixed fresh seafood from Benny Hudson. Boys played a little golf and we girls had a couple of lunches at Munchies in Main Street Village.....wonderful freshly made soups, pastries and ice cream. So nice to have a place to call our own with so much company coming and going and 1 Bank Swallow fit the bill.

Our family of 5 stayed in this relaxing home near a lagoon surrounded by lush trees. The pleasant sounds of whooping cranes in the distance, heard from the back porch, brought much needed serenity to our family. We really enjoyed the spaciousness and comfort of the home. Our teens loved biking in the community, and walking our little dog daily. Wonderful memories were made, and we hope to return again in the future. Thanks Colleen & Don!

Owner response: Hi Bill and Sue, I am really pleased you were able to find peace and comfort at our house. Certainly the neighborhood is an escape from the madness of the modern world, but yet is very near by when you want to connect with it. I certainly agree that The Arts Center and Honey Horn Cultural and Recreational Center are fine cultural attributes to enjoy in our small island community. Merry Christmas, Colleen Roger and Pat, Potomac, MD Truly outstanding stay 5 STARS Pat and I spent the month of October in this lovely home and we couldn't have been more pleased. The house sits on a large corner lot in a very quite residential area in Hilton Head Plantation. The house is set well back from the street and is surrounded by tall pines and a nicely landscaped yard. In the rear is a large lawn which leads down to a peaceful lagoon. It is all quite beautiful and peaceful. The home is spacious and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is large and has everything you could possibly need in a kitchen. There is a large mud room off the kitchen that leads to a garage. In the garage there is everything from yard equipment to beach chairs to five modern, well maintained bikes sized for kids to adults. The bedrooms are large. Large enough to easily accomadate a full sized couch in each. There also is a cozy den. Off the very large living room is a great screened porch overlooking the rear yard and lagoon. The home was so comfortable and inviting it felt like being home. The owners, Colleen and Don, were a real pleasure to work with and make us feel like old friends. The house is located within two miles of grocery shopping, nice restaurants, and shops all within the plantation. Hilton Head is a fantastic place for a vacation. It has everything you could ask for with no need to leave the island. We look forward to renting this beautiful home in the not too distant future! Roger & Pat
Owner response: Hi Roger, Such a fabulous review of our house, thank you so much. When guests drive long distances for their holidays, we are always interested in doing all that we can to max out their holiday experience. That you enjoyed the spaciousness and privacy of our house is one of the main reasons we bought this house. A number of houses we saw had good size rooms, but none had our half acre lot extended yet further by public easements and a lagoon in the distance. Not only does it give us terrific privacy, but the light and views we have are fantastic since we are not closed in tightly on our lot. So please do come again for a month and enjoy it and all that the neighborhood and surroundings offer. Warmly, Colleen |

Owner response: Hi Stella, Thank you for your details about your recent visit to our house. You hit a number of the nearby high points for enjoyment. Sometimes I think I tell too many people how good Munchies is and worry if we will soon have to line up to eat there. We often ride our bikes there. I'm pleased the house was comfortable for family coming and going and that you had a memorable holiday. I hope you can have a repeat visit. Colleen

Wonderful vacation home 5 STARS
This house made our stay in HHI so comfortable and convenient. The house and grounds are spacious, clean, and beautiful. We rode bikes that are provided in the rental to a private beach, swam in the neighborhood pool, and visited a nature conservancy that is right across the street from the neighborhood.
Owner response: Hi John, Hey, you didn't even mention this was your honeymoon trip! I am really happy that the house provided all you needed both inside and in the immediate neighborhood for you both only to have to step out the door to enjoy nature, beauty and recreation. I hope the rest of your honeymoon in California went as well. From there you can just drive North to our waterfront vrbo condo on the harbor of Victoria British Columbia from where you can leave for sea kayaking or whale watching amongst other fun activities. Wishing you both well, Colleen

Wonderful house in a great location and beautiful neighborhood 5 STARS Staying in Colleen and Don's house made my Hilton Head stay a wonderful experience for a very reasonable price. The one level floor plan was perfect for my mother-in-law who can't handle stairs, as well as my 1-year-old who handles stairs too well. The multiple patios both screened and unscreened made for great sitting areas. Lots of room as well! All of our excursions were very close. The private Dolphin Head Beach was very nice and quiet but my mother-in-law was unable to walk down to it to sit on the sand with us, so we spent our beach time at Coligny Beach, which is an amazing public beach with all the amenities. We parasailed with Sky Pirate Parasail (who allowed our fearless 4-year-old to ride as well!), did the Pirates of Hilton Head cruise (a hilarious pirate show for the kids), and did a 4-hour fishing charter with Outside Hilton Head. We only brought home one fish (they were all too small too keep), but it was a good time. We had 5 adults and 2 kids and didn't feel the least crowded. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet as well with a grocery store very close by.
Owner response: Hi Crystal, The pictures of your 4 year old parasailing are fantastic! What a memory for all of you. That our house so comfortably accommodated your family and brought you close to so many activities that HH offers is wonderful. That is why people return annually to such a beautiful destination since there are endless activities. Maybe next time you can go on a dolphin cruise and maybe zip lining? Hope you can return, Colleen Greg, Cindy and Hogan, Hickory, NC Great Time in Hilton Head 5 STARS Our month long stay in Hilton Head was great from several standpoints. The rental unit was very comfortable and had all the amenities we look for in a rental and many extras (e.g., bicycles, Wi-Fi). It was like a home away from home. While there were just two of us and our dog, there was room for another couple or 3-4 kids without feeling crowded. The living room and Carolina room were great for relaxing with our friends. We have been to Hilton Head several times and love it. HH Plantation (where the unit is located) is our favorite location on the island. It is on the less busy North end, and most of the residents are year round residents and as a result it is quiet and less congested. The extensive walking/bicycle trails and private beach paths along the sound were favorite daily events. We like it so much we are looking to move there. The weather was better than expected for the time of year. We could play golf almost any day on one of the courses, although a later AM tee time was more comfortable. Dining on HH is phenomenal, and there are several great eateries just outside the back gate. Our favorite was the Skull Creek Boathouse. Day trips to Savannah and Beaufort were great fun. And last but not least it was a pleasure working with Colleen. She did everything she could to make our stay a memorable one.
Owner response: Hi Greg, Since you are now actively organizing to move to not only HH, but to our neighborhood, I guess I can take that as a clear indicator that your time at our house was well enjoyed as you described. For a 12 X 5 mile island, we too find the variety and quality of life there way beyond other small communities. No winter to suffer, beautiful scenery, excellent recreation, culture in theater, an active arts community, and a wonderful symphony, plus numerous clubs and speakers to meet the interests of a diverse community. We look forward to meeting you when we are both there. Good luck with the move project. Colleen |

Wonderful Hilton Head Experience 5 STARS
My wife and I enjoyed our stayed in a well run plantation on Hilton Head. The home in which we stayed was beautifully decorated and has comfortable features to make for a pleasant stay. The owners provided the necessary equipment and amenities to allow the guests to enjoy the complete Hilton Head experience. I enjoyed having my coffee on the enclosed porch reading the paper and looking at the lagoon. We enjoyed the lovely appointed living room while entertaining our friends.
Owner response: Hi Ralph and Peg, We're happy you enjoyed HH so much that you bought a house 2 blocks away from us. You are our 2nd guests in 5 years to have done this. I guess that speaks pretty highly for how special HH is and also Hilton Head Plantation. We'll see you the next time we're there. Until then, Colleen

Great home! Great family memories! 5 STARS
Thank you Coleen and Don for sharing your home with our family! We had a great time celebrating our granddaughter's 13th birthday in HHI! Your home was fully equipped and very comfortable! Thank you for thinking of every detail to make our visit feel like "home away from home"! We have great family memories of our visit and look forward to visiting again!
Owner response: Hi Belinda and Phil, I am really pleased that your family so enjoyed their holiday time together at our HH house. Imagine years from now your granddaughter returning here with her family because of the traditions she remembered having shared with you here. What better present could you give to the next generation than one of time spent together in this frenetic world? I really do hope you can return. AND thank you with your patience with the washing machine - the new one is now in and working reliably so you can come back for a longer stay! Sincerely, Colleen

Thank you Colleen & Don 5 STARS Thank you Colleen and Don for providing your HH house for our visit. Your house could not have been more comfortable, and well supplied with loads of extras that you normally would not expect, e.g. the bikes. Coming from Ireland, five thousand miles away at the other end of the Gulf Stream, we really enjoyed South Carolina's flora and fauna, for example listening to the bird sounds in the Carolina room at daybreak; we even managed to overcome our fear of 'gators, getting to hold (a little) one at the Coastal Discovery Museum. We had intended to visit Charleston, but the attractions of Hilton Head and the charms of Savannah were more than enough to absorb in one two week holiday. Reading the Savannah 'book', (better than the movie), 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' was a good accompaniment to our visit there. We hope to return! K&V, Ireland
Owner response: Hi Valerie and Ken, I am always surprised by the diversity of countries from which our guests come and that this special island Paradise is known so far and wide. That you came and enjoyed your visit so much you would like to return shows you too felt the island's charm. We were delighted to have you choose our house for your stay and enjoyed our communication with you. Please do come back. Cead Mile Failte, Colleen and Don Daniel C As advertised...and then some! 5 STARS When we look to book a vacation property, we look for a place that is well maintained, at a reasonable price and located in an area just off the beaten path. This rental met and exceeded all of these expectations. We had plenty of room in this spacious home nestled in the lush pines for rest and relaxation when we needed it. My favorite spot was the screened in back porch where I enjoyed a beverage or two and enjoyed the beautiful scenery. We ate out most nights (food was great on Hilton Head I must say) however, we did make a few meals using the nicely equipped kitchen. Our teenage daughters loved the short bike ride to the quiet, well maintained pool just down the road. It was pretty much us and another family or two using it the whole week which was awesome. When we wanted to join the masses, Coligny and South Beach were just minutes away and easy to access. Our family particularly enjoyed Dreissen Beach just a five minute drive. Might be the best beach we have ever been to... ample parking, warm water, soft sand and safe for the kids to boogie board. This property was as advertised and then some. The owners, Colleen and Don were awesome to deal with and left many helpful tips for us as to how to navigate the island and use the community facilities. You will love the bikes that are graciously provided for your use. We would highly recommend this home to anyone. Whether you are retired or bringing the kids, there is so much to do on this island, you could only be bored if you wanted to be!
Owner response: Hi Dan and Lynn, The enthusiasm of your review was pretty much the way you always were - from the outset of the booking process, the excitement leading up to your holiday, your busy stay there, and your courtesy and review now. Certainly we hope you return to our house for more HH experiences. You also were wonderful to work with. Best to you both, Colleen |
